Nice intro to the powerful works of the late Francis Bacon 1909 - 1992. This guy brought it raw. First paintings to ever scare me. He presented something worse than real life, He painted life itself. The experience of being human, how we feel and see, not simply how we look or what we are looking at. Lets use some descriptive words...Twistedness. Pain. Suffering. Broken togetherness. Meaninglessness. Disfigured nature. Mutated existence. An anti-story....Deep Deep Deep. Horror without the story. Blessed viewed with video sound down and a deep Drum n Bass mix ...up. I'm not sure how I came across this guy, but he rips it up and totally deserves a medal for being on the level and a few above...Aint it nice when you come across someone's art that makes you consider parting with your precious lunch money to buy?

Well never fear, I haven't parted with my midday munch money as yet, but the feeling is still there. Sometimes it's the feelings that count, right?

Also notable, is the fact that this guy seems like a genuinely cool dude, the type you want to hang out and make sandwiches with. Which btw, is really important for me, to like the person behind the art, or at least the person they project via interviews etc... Jimmy C once said to me, 'you can't separate the artist from the art.' I am inclined to agree.

Recently, I've grown adverse to being labelled as an artist. So have resorted to following up such introductions with, 'I'm also a nice guy'. Which one lady replied with, 'Yeh, but nice guys finish last...' ...YES OK and jerk guys finish first...only to realise they are all alone in a world so cold with no heating and a large head-covering of blue leaves.

Kinda like this painting...aptly titled Desolation afflicts the greedy-hearted...

I figure I have to kick this section off sometime, and why not with this man - Sergey Tyukanov. This Russian turns me on something shocking. The moment I came across his work earlier this year I nearly jumped out of my seat with excitement. The man's work is pure treasure. What's more impressive is that most of these etchings are so small he has to use a magnifying glass just to see what he's doing! Damn gurl!
